Duck Race
The annual duck race organised by Timoleague Tidy Towns will take place on Saturday next, July 12th. This very popular event is a fundraiser and the money raised will be ploughed back into projects that will further enhance the village for locals and visitors alike. Ducks were on sale at Foley’s Centra on Friday last and the response from the public was fantastic. This week-end you will have a further opportunity to purchase ducks at The Cross in the village centre on Friday and ducks will also be on offer at a stand under The Abbey on Saturday.
The duck race will commence at 7pm. – the time is dictated by the tide and the general public can take up a viewing position on Church Bridge or beside the tide wall near the finish line. A flotilla of boats and kayaks will be on hand to lend assistance at the event. Indications are that the weather will be good on Saturday evening, so why not come along to Timoleague and enjoy the spectacle and savour the atmosphere.
Mike Denver Concert
Mike Denver will perform at Timoleague Festival in August. His concert will take place at Timoleague Parish Church on Thursday, August 21st. at 8pm. Tickets go on sale this week-end. Please contact (083) 8876414 to book your tickets and for further details.
For the Attention of Dog Owners
It is a well-known fact that a dog is a man’s and indeed a woman’s best friend. However, recently in Timoleague some dog owners have been negligent and rude in relation to the proper care of their animals on the pavements of the village. The local members of Timoleague Tidy Towns have done trojan work in making the village a place to be proud of and it is sad to relate that some dog owners will not clean up after their dogs. This is disrespectful to all who live in the village and to those who work tirelessly to make it the gold medal prize-winning entry in the National Tidy Towns competition over the past few years. A plea is being sent to dog owners to be responsible for their animals and to bring the “poo” home with them when the need arises.
