Duck Race Success
The annual duck race organised by Timoleague Tidy Towns was held on Saturday evening last and was once again an outstanding success. The weather was for the most part very kind but the windy conditions made it difficult for the ducks to navigate with ease down river to the finish line. The timely intervention by those on board the RNLI Rib saw to it that all the ducks were ushered back on course as they sailed to the finish. A number of kayaks were also on hand to lend assistance and the large crowd who gathered to witness the spectacle were not disappointed. Local Master of Ceremonies, Dan Connolly entertained the masses as only he can and his razor-sharp wit brought laughter and tears to those in attendance.
The Tidy Towns Committee wishes to express its thanks to all who bought and sold ducks over the past few weeks. The first duck past the line was purchased by Theresa Burke and Declan Cullinane. Second prize was won by Kevin Curtain and Loughlinn Travers and third prize went to Eilis O’Sullivan c/o Sexton’s Caravan Park and Colette Maguire.
