Jack Stars for Munster
Local young rugby player, Jack Deasy displayed his talent with the oval ball when helping Munster Schools in their recent 33-29 victory over Ulster at Virgin Media Park in the interpro competition. Jack lined out at prop forward where his skill and strength were key ingredients in this great win which was secured by a late try. Jack is a pupil of Bandon Grammar School. By the time you read these notes they will have played Leinster away on Wednesday, August 13th. at Energia Park.
Supper Session
This year’s Timoleague Festival kicks off with A Timoleague Supper Session, incorporating a night of food and laughter, at The Community Hall on Friday night, August 15th. with special guest, Niall O’Sullivan. A two- course meal will be served with a drink on arrival. Tickets and further information can be had by contacting (087) 7775224 or (086) 8336315. Gluten free and vegetarian options available if required on request. Expect an evening filled with delicious food, laughter and live entertainment and help get the festival off to a great start.
Timoleague Festival
Timoleague Festival begins on Friday night and will continue until Sunday August 24th. The organising committee have a full and varied programme of events which will appeal to families, children and adults. It begins with The Supper Session on Friday night. There will be live music on the street on Saturday night with Big Generator. A Summer Concert will be held at The Church of the Ascension on Sunday evening. Doors open at 6pm. The Adult Fancy Dress Parade led by The Blarney Brass Band will take place later along with the official opening. A stand-up comedy show with Tom O’Mahony and Donal Mc Sweeney will be at Monk’s Lane on Monday night. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets can be booked by calling (085) 1657801 or (086) 8336315.
Barryroe-C0-Op is celebrating its centenary this year and as part of the celebration there will be a talk on the creamery with particular emphasis on the Timoleague Branch by Philip O’Regan, Donal Whooley and Edward Mc Sweeney at The Community Hall, beginning at 7.30pm. On Tuesday night the annual GAA Table Quiz takes place in both Pad Joe’s Bar and Charlie Madden’s Bar beginning at 8pm. Wednesday sees a Children’s Chalk Drawing Competition at 3pm while at 6pm there will be a Toy Tractor Run at Abbey Street followed by a model aeroplane display at Abbeyside. On Thursday a Children’s Treasure Hunt will take place at 4pm and Mike Denver performs at Timoleague Church at 8pm.
On Friday there will be a Street Food Festival. Bingo will take place in the Community Hall at 8.30pm The Monks will perform Live on the Street at 9pm.
