Hurling championship

The Premier Junior championship continued last Saturday with Argideen recording a 1-23 to 2-15 win over Milford in Ovens. A match report appears elsewhere in the sports pages with substitutes Paudie Butler (1-01) and James Crowley (0-2) starring. Matthew Lawton, Fergal Walsh and Charlie Twoomey also gave standout performances. The final group game is against Ballygarvan on September 5th. The Junior B hurlers played their second match in this year's competition on Sunday last in Castletownkenneigh. Bantry, who were playing their first championship game, were the opposition and despite a committed Argideen effort of all those present, the westerners ran out winners. The next Junior B championship game is against Bandon on August 31st. Team; Michael O' Callaghan, Richie Smith, Brad Harte, Robert Hennessy, Matthew Power, Donal Sutton, Charlie Dineen, Conor Lehane, Johnny Deasy, Mark Henchion, Colin Smith, Michael Murphy, Marcus Kelly, John Joe Butler and Danny Lawton. Subs used; Jack Henchion, Eoghan Guinivan and David Deasy.
The second JAFC game against Kilmeen will take place on Friday 22nd at 7pm in Balinascarthy.
