 Junior “B” Hurling Championship:

Argideen Rangers hurlers played Barryroe on Sunday afternoon in Kilbrittain. Playing with the aid of a strong breeze in Clashavanna, Argideen goalie Michael O'Callaghan was able to launch some great deliveries in the first half. The full back line of Rob Hennessy, Mike Deasy and Donal Sutton were solid all day long, with Deasy in particular rolling back the years to give one of his trademark polished performances. Some long-range points (both from play and placed balls) by Dan Hurley, honest effort from Mark Henchion, David Deasy, Marcus Kelly and in particular Michael Murphy, who worked his socks off from start to finish, were some first half highlights. The Argideen goal came from a long Dan Hurley delivery that found its way into the net to leave the half time score of 1-10 to 1-05 in favour of Barryroe. Against the wind in the second half, Conor Lehane and Johnny Deasy were as busy as always around midfield and they got good assistance from their lively wingbacks Adam Barry and Matthew Power. Colin Smith and Joe Murphy tried hard up front but could not prevent a 1-20 to 1-09 loss. As always, the panel (and manager Pat Burke) put in an honest, wholehearted and committed performance, which is what is expected of any player lucky enough to wear the maroon jersey. Team: Michael O'Callaghan, Robert Hennessy, Mike Deasy, Donal Sutton, Adam Barry, Dan Hurley, Matthew Power, Conor Lehane, Johnny Deasy, Mark Henchion, Colin Smith, Michael Murphy, David Deasy, Joe Murphy and Marcus Kelly. Subs used; Richie Smith and Jack Henchion.
