U12 hurling success

October 08, 2025

Our U12 hurlers travelled to a dry, but blustery, Ballinspittle last Saturday afternoon to take on Tracton in the Rebel Óg West hurling decider. Hopes were high of completing the double after winning the football title a week earlier and the young warriors in maroon didn't disappoint. In a tense and ferociously physical first half, important contributions from Danny Connolly, Jack Harte and Mikey Deasy on the scoreboard had Argideen leading at the break by 2 points. Turning to play into the strong breeze for the second half the Timoleague side were grateful to Steve Kelly in goal for several vital blocks and the resolute defence of the lion hearted Zack Murphy and the stylish Colum Coomey in keeping Argideen noses in front. Dylan Harte and Ciaran Wilcox covered every blade of grass and hurled with rugged abandon, repelling Tracton attack after attack. Bill Dinneen and Arthur Walsh both stood tall when the need was greatest in defence. The defining moment came when a snapshot from inspirational skipper Danny Connolly came back off the crossbar and the poacher supreme Donagh Harte was on hand to steer the sliothar home....adding a point moments later and the maroon machine was starting to rumble! Cian O' Sullivan soared highest to claim two puckouts and drove his team forward at every opportunity in an all action display. Jack Harte and Mikey Deasy both impressed with their work rate and cultured hurling in the engine room and once the lethal James Deasy had crashed home the second goal to a roar from the Argideen faithful that could be heard back in Inchybridge it was clear that his team wouldn't be denied.  Rian Daly, Jack Long, Conor Burns, James Keohane, Adas Bialas & Cal Griffin all manned a position in the forward line to good effect over the contest and played a huge role in a historic victory.
The final whistle was greeted with jubilation by all in maroon & white. Timoleague man Declan Welsh, on behalf of Rebel Óg, presented the trophy to the Argideen Rangers captain Danny Connolly and his teammates amidst great scenes. The village of Timoleague witnessed great scenes as the victorious convoy reached home with their mission accomplished. The team, their dedicated coaches and loyal supporters were fed and watered in the club house thanks to the Hatch Takeaway and passed away the evening reflecting on a great Argideen Rangers victory.
