Timoleague Harvest Festival AGM 2025

The Timoleague Harvest Festival AGM will take place on Tuesday, 25th November at 8.30pm, upstairs in The West Wing over the playschool.

Over the past year, the Committee have worked tirelessly to deliver a fantastic festival programme. The proceeds from the Festival are going directly towards the upgrade of the ball-alley, an important amenity for our community.

Please come along and support the Committee, and help shape the future of the Harvest Festival.

Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Tidy Towns

The Tidy Towns committee fresh from their excitement on receiving a gold medal at the recent National Tidy Towns Awards ceremony at Croke Park are now busy preparing for their annual Christmas fundraising raffle and celebratory party which will take place on Sunday, December 7th. These events are looked forward to at this time each year and the celebration of retaining gold medal status not to mention an increase in marks are worthy of a proper celebration. Coupled with this the Christmas Lights will be switched on and Santy has promised that he will also pay a visit. So, there is much to look forward to over the next while.

Street Scape and Public Places:  As always, The Friary was our first stop on our visit to Timoleague. This is a stunning building that is benefiting from conservation work. It is also enhanced by your imaginative use of technology to make information on the building and ots history more accessible. The green spaces on the shore line are immaculately kept. Brochures were available at The Friary. Well done. The Catholic Church was Also visited and the famous windows enjoyed. The circular paved area was new to this adjudicator and it really does enhance the area. The grotto here is also so well kept. The Church of the Ascension was also visited but unfortunately it was closed at the time of our visit. We wish you the best of luck with your new community centre. The extant community centre looked fine. The sign here might need replacing soon. We are pleased to say that the toilets were open and in very good order. The courthouse is now a co-working hub which is a great new life to the building. Harrington’s premises is now your trophy cabinet – if you’ve got it flaunt it! Foley’s Centra and petrol station was neat but the window-stickers are not attractive. Pad Joe’s Bar (Deasy’s) was busy on the day and looks very well with its own “parklet”. We believe that the large sign for this premises could be replaced by a mural that would also do all the advertising while fitting in better with the village streetscape. Charlie Madden’s pub looked very well but The Abbey Bar might need some love soon. We would suggest a recreation of the shop sign at the former Post Office. It was great to see a garda station with floral decorations.!
