Poc Fada
The annual Argideen Rangers Poc Fada took place over the festive period with over 43 teams taking part in the road hurling event from Courtmacsherry to Timoleague.
So many people generously donated prizes, contributed financially, and helped out on the day. The club is truly grateful for the support and is delighted to donate all proceeds raised (currently at over €2000) to Cancer Connect.
Argideen Rangers is proud to support this incredible charity. Cancer Connect is a not for profit organisation that coordinates transport to Cork hospitals for passengers attending radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and other cancer related appointments. It is a free, flexible, and confidential service operating five days a week, run entirely by volunteer drivers.
For the record, the winning Poc Fada girls team included; Niamh Doyle, Juliet Harte and Molly Twomey. The victorious U16 team comprised Dylan Harte, Jack Harte and Danny Connolly. And the adult team with the least number of shots were John Michael Foley, Ellen Foley and Sean O’Callaghan.
Kilbrittain Tractor Run:
The annual Kilbrittain Tractor Run took place on Sunday, December 28th. At 1.50pm the cavalcade of tractors arrived at Timoleague via The Burren Road have made its way from Kilbrittain. An indication of the vast number of tractors taking part can be judged from the fact that the tractors at the head of the group were arriving back to Timoleague having gone to Courtmacsherry and Lislevane and were arriving back in Timoleague as the last remaining tractors were passing The Abbey. The organisation of the charity run as always was top class and the vast numbers who congregated at the best viewing spots along the way were not disappointed. The proceeds of the run will go towards the establishment of an adult autism unit on a green-field site at Dunmanway.
