Winter Olympic Success
Ben Lynch finished eight in the Winter Olympics final of the freestyle skiing halfpipe at Milano Cortina on Friday last. The twenty three year old Dubliner made history as he was the first Irish skier to reach a Winter Olympics final. One might rightly ask why this is being mentioned in these notes. Ben’s aunt is Laura Travers of Timoleague House, hence the local connection. Ben was born in Dublin but his family moved to Canada when he was aged two. He is now based in Calgary. After the first of his three runs, he was in fourth position. He improved in his second and in his final run he secured his best score of the evening, 75.00 to secure an impressive top eight finish. Congratulations to Ben and the extended Lynch family on his magnificent achievement.

Streetscapes and Public Places: The launch of your digital self-guided QR tour of TimoleagueFriary is an excellent way to share your rich heritage with visitors. I was also very happy tosee the new “Village Vista” sign at the Catholic Church. Which was beautifully painted by alocal Ukrainian resident, and the great improvement done to the collapsed wall near St.Molaga’s burial ground. The mural near Centra definitely brings colour and interest to thevillage. Public spaces like the Railway Park and The Playground are kept in excellentcondition with the Playground now being universally accessible and recently upgradedthrough CLAR funding. You might also consider providing a Disabled Parking Bay in thecar-park beside the Playground.
