Argideen Rangers junior footballers earned their first points of the Division 6 football league last Sunday morning in a blustery Our Lady's Well. Their North Cork opponents, Glanworth, hit the back of the net in the first play of the game, after the ball came off the post. The home side, playing into the breeze and the western goalclawed their way back mainly through some fine attacking play by corner forward James Crowley and converted frees from Bill Fleming. After the half time turnaround, it was still a very close game, with a superb sideline point from Sean Walsh being a highlight. Some stray handpasses and unforced turnovers were the home side's downfall and Philip Flynn made a last minute save after a stray kickout to rescue a point. Final score,Argideen 0-7, Glanworth 1-04. Team; Philip Flynn, Darragh O' Donovan, John Sheehan, Finbarr Butler, Charlie Dineen, Fergal Walsh, Kevin Hennessy, Matthew Lawton, Jack Lawton, Charlie Twoomey, Bill Fleming, Sean Henchion, Eoin Lawton, Sean Walsh and James Crowley.
The players will switch to hurling and play Diarmuid O' Mathuna’s away in Castletownkenneigh on Saturday 18th at 2pm.
