Historical Society
Timoleague Historical Society is delighted to welcome you to a presentation by William Casey on Thursday May 14th at 8pm in Timoleague Community Hall (Eircode P72 F884). William is an expert on burial grounds and Cillíní or Children's Burial Grounds that are a common historical feature in the Irish landscape. Despite this, and the fact that they were used until comparatively recent times, relatively little is understood about them. This illustrated talk will explore various aspects of cillíní, especially those located in West Cork, including Timoleague, Barryroe, Kilbrittain and the surrounding areas. He will examine who was buried in these sites, when they were used, what rituals and traditions were associated with them and how these locations were chosen. All are welcome and there is a suggested donation of €5 to the society at the door with refreshments served afterwards.
May Rosary
During the month of May, the rosary is recited at Our Lady’s Well each evening at 8pm. This May tradition has been a practice in Timoleague going back many generations. Why not be part of this religious custom. If you are free any evening at 8pm your presence would be very welcome.
Rapid Response Night at Monk’s Lane

Seven Heads Walks Week-End
The upgraded Seven Heads Walks were officially opened on Saturday afternoon last at Butlerstown by Minister of State, Christopher O’Sullivan. A large representative group were gathered at The Community Hall for the occasion. The Minister, no stranger to these parts, spoke in glowing terms of the sheer natural beauty of the walks that are at our door step. Local councillors, Ann Bamberry, John Michael Foley and Alan Coleman also spoke and in attendance were former local councillors, John O’Sullivan and Paul Hayes who were also thanked for their contribution during their time in office. Over the week-end a number of walks were organised and though the weather was not pleasant on Sunday, none the less walkers were treated to the finest on offer on Friday evening and on Saturday. On Monday morning almost a hundred walkers did The Inchybridge Loop. Some had never walked this route before and were captivated by the flora and fauna of The Wood Road not to mention the breathtaking views on offer at the top of Killavarrig and at The Gub where the far away hills of Kerry are visible in the distance as was Clonakilty Bay and The Old Head of Kinsale. As the walkers made their decent into the village from Ardmore, they were treated to a panoramic vista of The Argideen Estuary and Courtmacsherry Bay and village spread out before them. The organising committee are thankful to all who made the week-end such a success.
