Sciath na Scol double

June 05, 2026

Argideen Rangers GAA Club are very proud of all of our players involved in yesterdays double Sciath na Scol football success for Timoleague N.S. This group of players  have been consistently setting high standards for school, club and, in some cases, county over the last number of years. This unique football double compliments the boys hurling title last month, boys football title last year and softens the blow of the narrow defeats in camogie and hurling over the last couple of years.

Both teams fought incredibly hard in Clonakilty GAA yesterday in their respective finals today, showing immense determination, skill, and sportsmanship to secure two hard fought victories. Bhuaigh foireann na mbuachaillí in adhaigh Scoil Náisiúnta Kealkil (3.11 - 3.05)  agus níos deanaí sa lae, bhí bua iontach ag foireann na gcailíní in adhaigh Scoil Náisiúinta Ros Ó gCairbre (3.3 - 2.4). The respective captains of Ciarán Wilcox and Lara Foley accepted the cups and younger players can have no greater role models than these two leaders.

This win would not be possible without the huge input of the players themselves, parents and school staff, particularily Mr. Mennis, Helen and Mr. Lynch. Their guidance, support and expertise has helped to deliver a memorable few days for the school and community. As a club we are very grateful of the colaboration and support of the whole school staff and the many Argideen Rangers club volunteers who pass on their love of our national games.

The attached photograph of the cups in Timoleague Friary, overlooking Timoleague NS, captures the symbiosis of sport, heritage community and education perfectly. Ní neart go cur le chéile.

There are some more pictures of both matches on Timoleague NS website.

The boys hurling final played in Páirc Uí Chaoimh is available to view here.
