Community notes June 6th

July 11, 2026

Lip Sync At Timoleague

On Saturday May 23rd, Timoleague Community Hall came alive to host a lip sync to fundraise for Timoleague National School. With the support of a fundraising committee, a show was put on like no other. The acts involved had clearly spent a lot of time and effort which shone through in their performances and the standard of acts was quite something. Thanks to all the parents who agreed to perform on the stage on the night- not an easy thing to do.There could be only one winner on the night and that was The Drizzle Queens, but all acts were worthy of the prize. One local man, said he hadn't had as much fun in the Community Hall since he was 13 years old!!Thanks to all the generous sponsors, everyone who purchased a ticket or donated. It is hugely appreciated by the committee and the school.

Buiochas do gach duine a bhi pairteach san ocaid iontach I dTigh Molaga De Satharn seo chaite.

Sciath na Scol

The euphoria of the great win by Timoleague National School boys hurling team is still lingering in the local air, preparations are now in full swing for the football finals that are being held at Clonakilty on Thursday. Both the girls and boys teams have qualified for their respective finals and a huge exodus from Timoleague is anticipated. The girls play Rosscarberyand the boys face Kealkil.

In relation to the report on the boys win at Pairc Ui Chaoimh two weeks ago, a number of people of a certain age have been racking their brains as to the line up of the victorious team of 1992. A trawl through the archives and a trip down memory lane will hopefully clear the air and set the record straight. Having been beaten by Ballinspittle NS in 1991 final by a point, the following year the young lads from Tigh Molaga were on a mission of atonement. They qualified for the final once more and their opponents were the boys of Crossmahon NS. A marvellous victory was achieved, 2-5 to 1-3 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. To cap a great day, the winning captain Michael O’Callaghan was presented with the trophy by former Argideen player, Donal Whooley, secretary of Sciath na Scol. Team: Alan Long, Dan Connolly, Paul O’Donovan, Michael O’Callaghan (0-1), David Twomey, Brian Hennessy (0-4), Cathal Dinneen, Ronan O’Sullivan, Valerie O’Keeffe, Denis Harrington (1-0), Damien Crowley (1-0) Subs: Paddy Drake, Rowan O’Donovan, Paschal Kingston, Freddy Murphy, Conor Hennessy, Mark Vaughan. This year the presentation tradition was repeated with the cup being presented to the winning captain, Colum Coomey by Edward Mc Sweeney, Sciath na Scol committee member. We Timoleague people do things in style!

All-Ireland Success

Cara Daly was part of the Cork under 14 “A” footballers who defeated Armagh siobhan4-8 to 2-11 in the All-Ireland Platinum final on Sunday last. Cara is a star member of Ibane Ladies Football Club. All in Timoleague are proud of Cara as indeed are her very supportive parents, Emmett and Siobhan.
