Eucharistic Procession

The annual Eucharistic Procession was held after the 11.30am mass on Sunday last at Timoleague. The short route was used as the weather forecast was not favourable. The procession went down Chapel Hill and over Main Street and finished at The Grotto by the chapel steps. A big thank you to all who made the occasion function without a hitch.

 Sciath na Scol Double

Argideen Rangers GAA Club are very proud of all of our players involved in last week's double Sciath na Scol football success for Timoleague N.S. This group of players have been consistently setting high standards for school, club and, in some cases, county over the last number of years. This unique football double compliments the boys hurling title last month, boys football title last year and softens the blow of the narrow defeats in camogie and hurling over the last couple of years. For the record, the school recorded a double also in 1992 (hurling and camogie) and in 2009 (football and girls football).

Both teams fought incredibly hard in Clonakilty GAA in their respective finals, showing immense determination, skill, and sportsmanship to secure two hard fought victories. Bhuaigh foireann na mbuachaillí in adhaigh Scoil Náisiúnta Kealkil (3.11 - 3.05)  agus níos deanaí sa lae, bhí bua iontach ag foireann na gcailíní in adhaigh Bunscoil Fachtna ó Ros Ó gCairbre (3.3 - 2.4). The respective captains of Ciarán Wilcox and Lara Foley accepted the cups and younger players can have no greater role models than these two leaders.

This win would not be possible without the huge input of the players themselves, parents and school staff, particularily Mr. Mennis, Helen and Mr. Lynch. Their guidance, support and expertise has helped to deliver a memorable few days for the school and community. As a club we are very grateful for the collaboration and support of the whole school staff and the many Argideen Rangers club volunteers who pass on their love of our national games.

Award for Pat

Pat Hayes of Kilavarrig was honoured at Clonakilty Show on Sunday last. He received an honorary IFA life membership award for his outstanding contribution to the farming community. This was an honour richly deserved by the unassuming Timoleague farmer. Pat is a model farmer and is also deeply involved in Timoleague community affairs. In his younger days he was a member of Macra na Feirme and played a leading role in the purchase of the site where the Timoleague Community Centre is now located. He has been a staunch volunteer with Timoleague Harvest Festival since its inception back in 1973. Pat was accompanied by his ever supportive wife Mary at the presentation on Sunday last.
