Catwalk Extravaganza – Date Change
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the organisers of this event have been forced to change the date. It will now take place on Friday, August 28th. and not Friday, August 7th as previously advertised. The venue is unchanged. The sub-committee who are organising this gala event with the proceeds going to Cancer Connect and Timoleague Harvest Festival wish to apologise for this change of date which was outside their control.
Duck Race Success
The annual duck race organised by Timoleague Tidy Towns took place in glorious sunshine on Saturday last in The Argideen Estuary. The ducks were released a little upriver from Church Bridge with the finish line at The Waterfront. A flotilla of ribs accompanied by a number of kayaks saw to it that everything ran smoothly. The ducks had the advantage of floating with the outgoing tide and a breakaway group of half a dozen ducks made for an exciting finish which entertained the large crowd gathered beside the tide wall. The organisers wish to thank all duck sellers and those who bought ducks and the money raised will be ploughed back into ongoing projects which the committee are presently finalising. In the lead up to the race, Sharon Crosbie entertained the crowd in her own initiable way and had everyone in celebratory mood, joining in many of the ever-popular hit songs that never go out of fashion while the assembled waited for the race to begin.
The organisers gave prizes on the double to the owners of the first three duck past the line such was the extraordinary generosity of those who purchased ducks. 1St. Marjorie Turner / Lucy O’Sullivan; 2nd. David Murphy / Ger Madden; 3rd. Sean Connolly / Josh Wedlock.
