Timoleague Harvest Festival
It’s hard to believe that it is this time of year again with the festival ready to kick off for another year as it has done successfully since 1973. The festival committee have organised a fun packed and varied programme of events to suit all tastes and ages and Timoleague will be the place to be from Friday August 7th to Sunday August 17th. A Timoleague Festival Community Run, with a 5km or 10km option in aid of Irish Cancer will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8th. beginning at 10am. Registration at Community Hall from 7am.Music on the street on Saturday night will feature “Oasis Tribute Band”.
The official opening will take place on Sunday night and this year the honour is bestowed on Nicola Mc Mahon of Munster-Irish Cancer Society. The ever-popular Fancy Dress Parade will begin at 7.30pm.On Monday night there will be Stand Up Comedy at Monk’s Lane. The GAA table quiz will be held at Pad Joe’s Bar and Charlie Madden’s Bar on Tuesday night beginning at 8pm. Wednesday will feature many children’s events, beginning with a children’s chalk drawing competition at 3pm followed by a children’s table quiz in The Community Hall at 4.30pm. A toy tractor run will be held at Abbey Street at 6.30pm with The Kieran Cullinane Memorial Cup taking place at Our Lady’s Well Sports Complex at 7.30pm. On Thursday, a Children’s Treasure Run will take place at 4pm with registration at The Community Hall. A Celebration of Music will feature at Timoleague Parish Church beginning at 7.30pm.
Mc Fadden’s Funfair will be at The Green throughout the festival. Bookings and enquiries can be done by ringing the festival number at (085) 1657801 or log in at Timoleague.net or any of the usual social networks.
GAA Lottery Draw
There was no winner of the Argideen Rangers GAA lottery jackpot of €15,100 last weekend. The numbers drawn were 5, 18, 27, and 31. Lucky dip winners of €30 each included;Michael Burke, Darrara; David Madden, Main St Timoleague; Mary Ann Coughlan, 087 **204 and Eileen Keohane, Courtmacsherry.
Next week’s draw with a jackpot of €15,200 will be held at Pad Joe's Bar on Monday August 10th. Tickets at €2 each or 3 for €5 can be bought at Foley’s Centra, Pad Joe’s Bar, Monk’s Lane, Charlie Madden’s Bar, The Brewery Bar or from any club officer. Supporters of the draw are also asked to avail of modern technology by using the club’s online link by visiting www.clubspot.ie where one can avail of the user-friendly website. Munster Under 18 Squad:
Julie Cunningham has recently been selected for the girls under 18 Munster rugby squad for the forthcoming interprovincial competition. This is a great honour for Julie and will come as no surprise as she has been on several under age Munster squads already. She is wished well as Munster take on Leinster, Ulster and Connaught in the months ahead.
Cork West Football
Local Argideen Rangers underage players, Donncha Deasy and Tom Connolly were on the Cork West under 14 football team that won the Jum Power Memorial Cup in Dungarvan over the week-end.
Kilbrittain/Timoleague Camogie Success
It has certainly been a great week for local players in rugby, football and camogie. Kilbrittain/Timoleague Intermediate camogie team won the Summer Cup at Castle Road coming from behind to beat Midleton 0-18 to 2-9 after an exciting game. Hannah Twomey, Hannah Sexton, Ellen Sexton, Kaitlyn Dineen, Lorraine Dineen, Cliodhna Keohane and Sinead Walsh played their part in this great win.
