GAA Lottery Draw
There was no winner of the Argideen Rangers GAA lottery jackpot of €15,200 last weekend. The numbers drawn were 3, 9, 13, and 20. Lucky dip winners of €30 each included; Ann McCarthy, c/o Bingo; Eileen McKennedy, c/o Bingo; McCarthy family, c/o Bingo and Ogie & Kathleen, Co-Op.
Next week’s draw with a jackpot of €15,300 will be held at Charlie Madden's Bar on Monday August 17th. Tickets at €2 each or 3 for €5 can be bought at Foley’s Centra, Pad Joe’s Bar, Monk’s Lane, Charlie Madden’s Bar, The Brewery Bar or from any club officer. Supporters of the draw are also asked to avail of modern technology by using the club’s online link by visiting www.clubspot.ie where one can avail of the user-friendly website. JAFC defeat
Argideen Rangers Junior A footballers suffered a disappointing 1-12 to 1-07 championship defeat to Newcestown last Monday evening in Kilbrittain. Despite a well taken Philip O' Flynn first half goal and a half time lead, Newcestown powered on in the third quarter to record the win. Some good performances from O' Flynn, Daniel Hurley, John Sheehan, Ger Crowley and Charlie Twomey were not enough. A full report appears in this week’s sports section. The next championship game is against Barryroe on August 23rd.
Ibane Gaels
Ibane Gaels under 21 hurlers came out on top in their clash with Newcestown in the opening round of the championship, 0-26 to 0-10 on Friday night last. This victory makes up for their defeat in the football championship to Carbery Rangers.
Novel Fundraiser
A novel fundraiser is being organised by Ibane Gaels to coincide with the meeting of Argideen Rangers and Barryroe in the premier intermediate hurling championship at Clonakilty on Sunday, August 23rd. Lucky First Goal 2026 scratch cards are on offer at €10 each where subscribers can scratch the correct time the first goal is scored during this highly attractive game. Purchasers are advised to retain their card as proof of time.
