Pilates
MAT Pilates will begin at Timoleague Community Hall on Monday next, September 7th. There will be a mixed class from 6.30pm to 7.20pm followed by a men’s class beginning at 7.30pm to 8.20pm. Timoleague Road Bowling
This Friday at 6.45 starting at Lawton’s Cross is the Vintage C Veterans Final between, DD Carroll, Skibbereen and John Tringle, Dunmanway
Shannon Vale Road Bowling raised €7.5OO last weekend for Cancer Support where all local bowlers took part and supported.
Dance Explosion
Dance Explosion run by CM School of Dance is back once more at Timoleague Community Hall on Wednesday evenings. Children aged 3 – 6 yrs. from 3.35 to 4.15pm; 7 to 8 year olds from 4.15 to 5.15pm and over 10’s at 5.15 to 6.15pm. Registration before classes begin with a free class for beginners. Meeting of Neighbours
Continuing on from last week’s account of championship games between Barryroe and Timoleague at adult level, it must be remembered that both clubs played at a different grade for many years hence the scarcity of encounters. One has to delve back to the 90’s for some serious action between both. They met in the West-Cork final at Bandon in 1996 and after a pulsating encounter, Argideen prevailed, 3-14 to 2-15 with Barryroe reduced to fourteen early in the second half. Argideen went on to win the county later that year beating Fr. O’Neill’s in the final after seeing off Ballinora and Meelin on the way.
In 1995, the sides met in Clonakilty in the first round and this game was on a knife edge from start to finish and fittingly it finished level, Argideen 2-12 to Barryroe’s 1-15. The replay, as is often the case, did not live up to expectations and inspired by team captain, John Dineen, Argideen recorded a 1-21 to 0-10 win. A win over Ballinascarthy in the semi-final had Argideen back in the final against Bandon at Barryroe. Despite leading by five points on two occasions we failed to put Bandon away and without the injured Barry Harte we paid a heavy price, being defeated by 4-7 to 1-15.
